Higher summer temperatures in West Texas mean higher energy use – and higher utility bills.
Hahn Public and our animation partners created this friendly educational video for electric utility Lubbock Power & Light to help customers learn how to save energy and money.
For municipally owned utilities, responsibility and transparency are the foundation of customer trust.
In 2013, Lubbock Power & Light (LP&L) felt that foundation start to crack when customer frustration over rate increases, billing mistakes and perceptions of disinterest on the part of the utility reached an all-time high. Citizens took swift action; they created an “I hate LP&L” Facebook page, picketed in front of their office, and called for a boycott of the utility.
The crack had turned into a chasm.
How can we help people better understand and appreciate a resource they use every day but often take for granted?
Hahn Public has been a long-time partner in helping Oklahoma Natural Gas and Texas Gas Service run successful programs that provide rebates to their customers when they purchase energy efficient natural gas appliances. As the programs continued to grow, both companies wanted to create a fresh new campaign that highlighted how natural gas makes life better and reminded customers about the rebates.
The City of Cedar Park is one of the fastest growing cities in Central Texas. Rapid population growth coupled with persistent drought made residents increasingly aware of their water quality, usage and availability.
Customers were especially curious about their water use in the summer of 2010 when the City experienced an unprecedented number of complaints about unexpected high bills. Locally dubbed “Watergate,” the incident led the City to seek tools to give customers more information on their water usage.
